Symptoms of pink eye in children
Most children with pink eye will have the following symptoms:
- First, the child has eye pain. After being infected with the disease-causing virus, the child's eyes show signs of congestion and red eyes.
- Second, children feel itchy and scratchy eyes. This makes children tend to rub their eyes more, making their eyes increasingly red.
- Children with pink eye will have a lot of eye discharge (watery eyes) when they first wake up.
- Sometimes, some children have a mild fever or sore throat...
*Parents should take their children to see a doctor to determine their child's medical condition.
How to prevent pink eye in children
To prevent pink eye in children, parents should proactively take the following precautions:
- Do not contact or share items belonging to a person with pink eye.
- Sick children should stay home and notify the school for appropriate directions for disinfecting classrooms and objects on campus.
- Keep the living environment clean, tidy, well-ventilated, and regularly clean bed sheets and pillowcases.
- Do not let children put their hands on their eyes, especially during the epidemic season.
- Wash your hands regularly, especially after coming home from outside, after going to the bathroom, and before eating.
- Limit children's access to crowded areas, especially epidemic areas. In case of necessity, children should wear masks and take preventive measures to limit contact thoroughly.
- Give children regular health check-ups and full vaccinations as recommended by the Ministry of Health to strengthen their resistance and immune system.
